Google Chrome. The
New Browser From Google.
On September 2, 2008, Google has launched its
new browser, named Google Chrome. It is a further
challenge to Microsoft. The Google Chrome enters
the browser competition challenging Microsoft
Internet Explorer, which has the 73% of the
browser market share, Mozilla Firefox, which
has 19%, and Apple Safari, with 6% of the browser
market.
Our first impressions
on Google Chrome.
The Google Chrome seems to be good browser,
quite fast in loading the pages - faster than
Firefox and Internet Explorer - and "light",
minimalist and simple as an application. It
is much faster to launch than Microsoft Internet
Explorer 7, and faster than Firefox.
Flash and Java applications are handled quite
nicely by Google Chrome, which results in being
very fast and responsive in these tasks. Better
than Firefox.
We have the impression that Chrome is "lighter"
and less resource demanding on the computer
CPU.
Google Chrome gives the impression of being
very friendly and easy to use, simplicity and
clarity being again a kind of trademark for
Google products.
We do not like the graphic user interface of
Google Chrome, quite childish in stye with those
blueish and light blue hues which makes it look
as a boy toy.
We hope Google graphic designers will either
improve the graphic user layout, or develop
skinning options similar to Firefox.
We would rather prefer a neutral browser skin,
such as the Safari or the Firefox with Blue
Ice 2 skin. Anyway we understand that Google
Chrome is just in a Beta Test state, and for
now its performances look promising.

As a first impression Google Chrome seems a
good and interesting product, much better than
the first Apple Safari Browser for Windows,
which was truly a disaster, much better than
the bulky and intrusive Microsoft Internet Explorer,
and perhaps even better than Mozilla Firefox,
our benchmark browser, especially with Java
and Flash intensive pages. We have yet to explore
more in depth Google Chrome functionalities
and do more testing.
